MUSIC AS LITERATURE

Music is far beyond literature, at least in my eyes and possibly in the eyes of others. Its a stress reliever to some and a passion to others. Without a doubt it's a universal theme. It's a tradition that has been passed down for centuries. Each genre of music represents different types of cultures and groups. Music often shows an artist's feelings towards a certain subject. They express as much as any other writer, ranging from poets to novelist. A simple rhythmic beat easily sets a tone and mood. We can tell from the start whether the artist if feeling hurt or joyful. Once we start listening to the lyrics, we can connect all the pieces together and indicate what the artist has been through. A song, opera, or even a novel are not different from each other besides the way the tone and mood is presented by the writer. They all tell a story of some kind.
